  • We have been back in the country now for two and a half weeks. We took a couple of days off just to get back into things but we have been giving our new venture most of our attention for the last week and a half. Although we had some serious shocks, I have to…

  • We’ll we’ve been back in the good old Republic of South-Africa now for a couple of days. It is winter but after some good rains in the first couple of days we have had some fantastic weather. The photo is of the Boesmansrivier (Bushman’s River), from my parents’ house. Remember this is winter! I must…

  • After 15 months at The Housing Corporation, my contract ended yesterday. I worked at the Housing Corporation as a consultant for Sopra Newell & Budge. I worked on two projects; Compliance Audit as a Team Leader and Core Systems Rewrite as a Team Leader/Technical Architect. CA succesfully went live a couple of months ago, but…

  • Man was it hot today! The thermometer went all the way up to 36.3¦C. This is the hottest day in the UK for July since records have been kept. The hottest that it has ever been in the UK is a whopping 38.5¦C. That was recorded three years ago in August 2003. As a South-African…

  • Today I celebrated (is that the word?) my 33rd birthday. I was woken up with a card, a present and a birthday song by Lené. This evening Lené took me out for a meal at a nice restaurant. Thanks to Charles, Soma, Christiaan, Niel, Pierre, Rulan, Rhalda, Katinka, Abbie, Itanje, Thinus, Cathy, Ingrid, Fredri and…

  • I was very lucky to have purchased a highly rated Nikkor 18-200 VR lens today. I have been looking for this lens since November 2005 but they are almost impossible to get. Thanks to the outstanding efforts of Tina Aarsen of Fixation that changed today. I can’t wait to test it out so I’m hoping…

  • I’m aware that readers of this blog might be sick & tired of posts about me Britishness. So thankfully for them this will be the last blog about my British Citizenship/Passport, but I just had to close the subject by providing some photographic proof of my passport. Now I can’t wait to flash my passport…

  • As of Tuesday, I am a British Citizen. This is something that I’ve been aiming for since I arrived in the UK six years ago and I can promise you that I am relieved to finally have it. Whilst I am delighted about acquiring British citizenship, I didn’t want to lose my South-African citizenship. Today…

  • Today LenT went for her 2nd scan. This is the one where we find about out the youngster’s sex. The gynecologist said that she “couldn’t see any boy bits”, so it looks like we’re going to be having a girl. Thankfully both mom and daughter are in excellent condition.
