  • There was great excitement today when Karen Zoid and a group of her friends/relatives spent the afternoon in The Red Apple, our coffee shop. For foreign readers of this blog, Karen Zoid is a very well known Afrikaans rock singer.

  • Yesterday my sister, her husband, Lené and I took the kids to Tamjazi, a petting zoo/coffee shop outside of Alexandria for some R&R. Here Elke is just about 9 months old. I’m proud to say that the frown on her face was inhereted from me!

She can also focus on something for much longer periods than before. And her hand-eye coordination improves daily. She loves plants (specifically brightly coloured flowers) and…

  • Well its that time. Tomorrow is when we officially open. I’m a little nervous, but we had a trial run on Friday and things went really well. I still have lots to do though, so I best crack on!

  • I think this clarifies our decision to return to South-Africa. Daar is min dinge wat so mooi is soos ‘n mooi dag in Boesmansriviermond. Dit is een van die verskeie redes hoekom ons besluit het terug te keer na Boesmans om The Red Apple oop te maak. Hier is nog Boesmansriviermond fotos.

  • Elke was a week old yesterday. It is unreal how time has flown since she was born on the 27th of September. Her birth was an emotional roller coaster to say the least. I tend to get very focussed and quite grim during times of stress, so it was only a day or so afterwards…
