London Heatwave continues

I can’t remember when it was this hot in the Capitol. I have been here for 6 summers and this has to be the hottest 2 weeks I’ve experienced in the UK. I wonder if this has anything to do with Thicko Bush and has anti environmental policies.

Review: Phantom of the Opera (show)

My wife’s parents are currently in town and as a treat we took them to see Phantom of the Opera in London’s West End.

This is a fantastic experience. Andrew Loyd Webber’s music is fabulous.

Final thought: 4.5/5

More of this needed

I love this story of Pro Hunter being killed by an African Buffalo. B-utiful! These morons always carry on about how manly hunting is – even though they kill these often drugged animals with high powered guns.

It seems that once in a while mother nature returns the favour.

I can’t stand Wacko Jacko, BUT…

…the verdict on his alleged child mollestation is the right one.

There is this very worrying trend lately that any sort of affection or kindness, be it physical or not, towards children is somehow sexually intended. I am sick of this. Even more than I am of Wacko Jacko.

I must say, I didn’t think the US public had in them. I remember one District Attorney saying that his son had never seen his penis. And if any child had seen an older person’s penis, even if it is your dad, that something dodgy is going on. What the FUCK?!? This is a US District Attorney talking. With this kind of bullshit coming from a supposedly legal mind, I was expecting them to string Jackson up by his testicles. We all know how carried away the US public can get.

Thankfully the Jury made the right decision.

Welcome to the Rule of Law, South Africa

Today, I am proud to be part of the Rainbow Nation! The sacking of Zuma, by Thabo Mbeki, is a massive massive boost for my faith in the future of South Africa.

Obviously the fact that Zuma got into this position in the first place is horrendous, but this wouldn’t be the first time something like this happened. What is important is that Mbeki made the right, albeit difficult, decision to sack Jacob Zuma. Now we’ve got something we can work with. I never thought I’d say this but, today I applaud Thabo Mbeki. Even the DA, the opposition, agreed that he took a courageous decision.

Hopefully this will signal to the world that South Africa is a country that is serious about the Law.

Well done, Mr Mbeki. Well done!

Review: Infernal Affairs

I’ve just finished watched a truly outstanding movie. Infernal Affairs is one of the best “gangster” movies I have ever seen. Actually no; it is one of the best movies I’ve seen fullstop. You have to see it. Superb acting (the best I’ve ever seen from an Asian movie), brilliant camera work and a script that is phenomonal. You have got to see this movie.

I don’t get a lump in the throat from Hollywood movies anymore, but with this one I did.

I don’t give 5/5, but if I did this would’ve got it.

Afrikaans podcast site coming to life

A while back, my wife and I started an Afrikaans podcast site at Gesels.NET. We have now done three episodes and we’ve just recently been asked by someonse else to add their podcast to the site.

Sofar we’ve only had good feedback and lots of it. I just wish more people would create their own podcasts.

Review: Wild Safari 3D: A South African Adventure (IMAX)

Tonight 2 work colleagues and I watched Wild Safari 3D: A South African Adventure at the BFI Imax cinema in Waterloo.

I was looking forward to this; partly because the subject matter is quite close to home. I was also very impressed with my previous African Imax Experience, Africa: The Serengeti, which I also at the same cinema.

Regrettably though this movie falls miserably flat. Apart from some good 3d effects, specifically the boat sequence, there is not much to take away from this movie. The story is very feeble and the footage is nothing spectacular. It feels like amateurs made the movie. It came as no surprise that John “Tigers in Africa” Varty was a wildlife consultant on this movie. My dog undeerstands more about the real wilderness than John Varty!

All in all a disappointment. I give it 2.5 stars.
